Community Guidelines

Last updated: May 2026

IslamicHomeFinance.com is a place for Muslims — and anyone curious about Islamic finance — to learn, ask questions, and share knowledge respectfully. These guidelines exist to keep our community helpful, inclusive, and true to its purpose.

What We're Here For

This community exists to help people understand Shariah-compliant home financing. Good contributions include:

  • Honest questions about Islamic finance concepts
  • Thoughtful, on-topic discussion of articles and Q&A
  • Sharing personal experiences (without providing specific legal or financial advice to others)
  • Respectful debate about different scholarly opinions
  • Pointing out factual errors or requesting clarification

Be Respectful

We welcome diverse views — including different scholarly opinions on what is or isn't permissible. Disagreement is fine; disrespect is not. Treat every person you interact with as you would want to be treated. This applies to scholars, other users, site staff, and people discussed in comments.

Stay on Topic

Keep comments and questions related to Islamic home finance, Shariah-compliant financial products, or closely related topics. Off-topic posts may be removed without notice. If you're unsure whether your question fits, it probably does — we'd rather you ask.

Keep It Educational, Not Advisory

You may share general educational information, but please do not give specific financial, legal, or religious advice to individual community members. If someone describes their specific situation and asks "what should I do?", encourage them to consult a qualified scholar or licensed professional rather than providing a specific recommendation. This protects both you and them.

What Is Not Allowed

The following content will be removed and may result in your account being suspended or permanently banned:

  • Hate speech — No discrimination or derogatory language based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin
  • Profanity and vulgarity — Keep your language clean and professional
  • Sexually explicit content — Not permitted under any circumstances
  • Harassment and bullying — No personal attacks, name-calling, or sustained targeting of any individual
  • Doxxing — Do not share anyone's private information without their consent
  • Threats — No threats of violence or harm of any kind
  • Defamation — Do not make false statements of fact about identifiable individuals or organizations
  • Illegal content — Nothing that violates U.S. federal, state, or local law
  • Insulting Islamic principles — Content that deliberately demeans or mocks Islamic principles in a provocative manner

  • Unauthorized advertising — Do not promote products or services without prior written permission from the Site
  • Impersonation — Do not pretend to be a scholar, site staff, or another user
  • Copyright infringement — Do not post material you do not have the right to share
  • Off-topic posts — Content unrelated to Islamic home finance
  • Individual-specific financial advice — General education only; direct specific situations to qualified professionals

Moderation

Our moderation team reviews flagged content and makes decisions based on these guidelines and our Terms of Service. Moderation decisions are final. We reserve the right to remove any content and suspend any account, and we may do so without prior notice in cases of serious violations. If you believe your content was removed in error, contact us at support@islamichomefinance.com.

If you see content that violates these guidelines, please report it by emailing support@islamichomefinance.com with a link to the content and a brief description. We review all reports and respond as quickly as possible.

Consequences

Violations may result in content removal, a warning, temporary suspension, or permanent account termination depending on the severity and frequency of the violation. We don't aim to be punitive — we want everyone to succeed here — but we take the integrity of this community seriously.
